No, one identical to mine from the outside. I’ll clarify

They are tempting even me. The 4-motion golf sport wagon is going for $22k local to me. I think that would make a good daily and ski car. With a 7 yr/72k mile warranty it seems like a decent value.

I have seen a few in my area with that orange paint. I like it.

I’m just working the comments section of the Mk3 Jetta GLX post. Bashing Mk4 VWs, defending Mk3s, as I do.

Yep, that warranty is pretty crazy. To think just a few generations ago, the best VW could do was 2/24k — the shortest in the industry. Every additional year past the 3-4 mark
is exponentially more problematic from a statistical POV.

The question I ask myself is do I want to hassle with a possibly unreliable car going in for warranty repairs after year 3 or 4. I tend to keep my cars for 10 years...

Well, I see it as a backup safety net. My bigger question is as you approach the end, are they going to demand receipts and proof of EVERYTHING in order to pay for warranty work? I’ve seen that way too many times.
In some ways, being out of warranty is a relief. That’s when I start lightly
modding.

Why the MK4 hate? :(

They’re no more powerful than a Mk3, but have a floppier chassis and handle worse, plus they rust worse and smell like crayons.

I’ve got way more experience with Mk4s, so I can’t really speak to the Mk3's chassis. I’ve found the Mk4s to be engaging enough to drive. T here was certainly more focus on comfort over driving dynamics, though.
Power... Yeah. You got that right. Crayons? Oh yeah! Rust? I tend to live in places where that isn’t a concern.
I both love AND hate all VWs.

I've driven both back to back. Mk4 has a nicer interior, but all cheap materials that easily wear out, unfortunately. But Mk3 is much more engaging to drive, ie, you fear for your life.

Mk4 interiors are highly biodegradable. I missed out on an extremely nice Mk3 Jetta VR6 last fall that I still kick myself over... :(
